– And the conditions that apply to this covering so that it can actually be considered Islamic clothing.

And I have based and relied in clarifying these, on the Book and The Sunnah. Being guided by what has been narrated from the narrations and statements of the Companions and the Imaams….’

Maajid ibn Abdulazeez az-Ziyadi in his verification of the book “I’maaratul Quboor” [Building of Graves] of the Allaamah the muhaddith shaykh Abdurrahman ibn Yahya al-Mu’allimi , narrates a story showing the humility of the shaykh, he says:

” One time shaykh Ahmad Shaakir [the great muhaddith] wanted and  desired to  see shaykh Abdurrahman ibn Yahya al-Mu’allimi (as he had never met him), so he went to the Maktabatul Haram [The Library in Makkah] (where shaykh al-Mu’allimi used to work) and proceeded to the-in-charge of the library; shaykh Sulayman as-Swan’ee.

And after some time talking to him, shaykh Abdurrahman ibn Yahya al-Mu’allimi came with tea and water  to where they were and put it forth for them [shaykh Ahmad Shakir and shaykh Swane'ee], and then he left; and went back to his reading [research].

After a while shaykh Ahmad Shakir said to shaykh Swane’ee: ‘I want to see shaykh Abdurrahman ibn Yahya al-Mu’allimi.’

So shaykh Swane’ee said to him: ‘ The one who brought tea and water; is  al-Mu’allimi.’

And thus it was’nt except for moments; and Shaykh Ahmad Shaakir started to cry.”

May Allaah have mercy on them all.

Ibn Bukayr said: ‘A man came to [Imaam] Maalik ibn Anas….’

And he said: ‘O, Abu Abdullaah; I saw a drunkard man jumping trying to grasp the moon!!

So I said to myself [making an oath]: ‘Let my wife be divorced if there is anything entering the stomach of a human which is more worse than alcohol!!!’

So he [Imaam Maalik] said: ‘Let me look into this affair, so come back some other time.’

Thus the man came to him the next day.

But he [Imaam Maalik] said: ‘come back some other time; Let me look into this affair.’

Thus the man came to him the next day.

So he [Imaam Maalik] said to him: ‘Your wife is divorced!!! Surely I went through the Book of Allaah & the Sunnah of His prophet: I did not see anything more worse than ribaa (usury), because Allaah announced war upon those who deal in it (ribaa)!!!”

Showing that the consummation of Ribaa is worse than alcohol.

May Allaah rectify our affairs.

Assalaamu alaykum,

This is a reminder to all my Muslim brothers and sisters :

The brethren are living in make-shift tents relying upon huminitarian aid,

A whole society relegated to being refugees in their homeland,

The children wish they could have an education; or at least go out and play without tension,

At least a  day without sirens.

Just one.

My brothers and sisters, I ask from you not to forget the plight of our Muslim brethren,

The least we can do is keep supplicating  to the Lord of the earth and the heaven,

The Du’a is the weapon of the believers.

The bombs might have stopped raining but the hearts cant stop paining.

A humle plea to my brothers and sisters.

And I remind you:

Imaam Al-Bukharee and Imaam Muslim reported:

“A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim – he does not wrong him nor does he forsake him when he is in need; whosoever is fulfilling the needs of his brother, Allah is fulfilling his needs; whosoever removes distress from a believer, Allah removes from him a distress from a distressful aspect of the Day of Resurrection; and whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection.”

Sad and grieving news has reached of the death of the allaamah, the faqeeh, Muhammad Saalim Aaadud (rahimahullaah).

The news was announced in his village ‘Ummul Qura’, by some close relatives of the shaykh.
He had been ailing for some time now.

The Shaykh was a well known Salafi shaykh alhamdulillaah.

Surely we are from Allaah, and to Him we are returning.

Let everyone prepare himself.

Translated from the work of Al-Imaam Muhammad bin Saaleh al-‘Uthaymeen

Publication Reviewed & Authorized by The Ibn ‘Uthaymeen Charity Organization

“The many problems encountered with Haydh and Nifaas are a sea without shores.”

– Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen

Allaah has ordained for the daughters of Aadam a monthly cycle of natural bleeding which brings about with it a set of rulings pertaining to the manner in which they are to worship Allaah, Glory be to Him, during the period of time this bleeding occurs.

Due to the many questions being referred to the scholars on the subject of the rulings of menses in worship, we have compiled this small treatise of the most common and oft-repeated questions put forward  by our Muslim sisters.

This book is based on the fataawa (rulings) of the great Imaam of this era, Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saaleh al-‘Uthaymeen. In this book, the Shaykh provides detailed explanations as to the wisdoms and reasons behind certain rulings, expounding on the rulings with a clarity that he is well known for in his writings.

Our hope is that this small but greatly beneficial treatise will act as a reference point that will easily be within your reach at all times.

We also hope that you benefit from the knowledge contained within the answers of Shaykh ibn ‘Uthaymeen so that you may be in a position to worship Allaah upon knowledge and insight and furthermore, we hope that you come to appreciate the importance of knowledge and in particular, the knowledge of Fiqh (Knowledge and Understanding) in the Legislation of Allaah.

The Book comprises of the following Chapters:
The Rulings of Haydh in Salaat (Prayers) and Sawm (Fasting)
The Rulings of Tahaarah (Cleanliness) in Salaat (Prayers)
The Rulings of Haydh in Hajj and ‘Umrah

Abu Umaamah (radhiyaAllaahu anhu) reported from the Messenger of Allaah (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) said:

إِنَّ صَاحِبَ الشَّمَالِ لَيَرفَعُ الْقَلَمَ سِتَّ سَاعَاتٍ عَنِ الْعَبْدِ الْمُسْلِمِ الْمُخْطِئ – أَوْ الْمُسِيء – ، فَإِنْ نَدِمَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ اللهَ مِنْهَا أَلْقَاهَا ، وَإِلاَّ كُتِبَتْ وَاحِدَهً

“The occupier of the left; raises [and holds] his pen for six hours –from the Muslim servant [of Allaah] who has wronged or committed a mistake- ;  so if he regrets and seeks Allaah’s forgiveness from it: he returns it back, and if that is not the case; then it is written as one.”

Source: Mu’jam al-Kabeer: 7765, Saheeh Jam’i as-Sagheer: 2097 – Imaam Albaanee said it is hasan.

Lessons & Benefits:

- Proof that there are Angels scribing the deeds of each one of us.

- Affirmation that there are two different Angels; one on the right [for the good deeds], and one on the left [for the sins].

- The importance of hastening onto the forgiveness of Allaah.

- The great importance of regretting from committing sins – and that it is a large part of- seeking forgiveness and/or repentance.

- The great, encompassing mercy of Allaah: such that we have six hours before the sin is written.

- The great, encompassing mercy of Allaah: such that a sin is only written as one, and not multiplied. While the good deeds are multiplied from ten upto seven hundred times.

Narrated from Abdullaah ibn ‘Urwa ibn Zubayr from his grandmother; Asmaa bint Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with them); that he said:

‘I said to her: What was the condition of the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah  when the Qur’an was recited to them?’

She said:

“They were just like how Allaah described them: Their eyes shedding tears, and their skins shivering.”

Source: Zuhd wa Raqaaiq of Ibnul Mubaarak

Allaah The Mighty says:

Allâh has sent down the best statement, a Book (this Qur’ân), its parts resembling each other in goodness and truth, oft-repeated. The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver from it (when they recite it or hear it). Then their skin and their heart soften to the remembrance of Allâh. That is the guidance of Allâh. He Guides therewith whom He pleases and whomever Allâh sends astray, for him there is no guide.  [Az-Zumar: 23]

And indeed We sent Mûsa (Moses) with Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and a manifest authority,

To Fir’aun (Pharaoh), Hâmân and Qârûn (Korah), but they called (him): “A sorcerer, a liar!”

Then, when he brought them the Truth from Us, they said: “Kill the sons of those who believe with him and let their women live”, but the plots of disbelievers are nothing but errors!

Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “Leave me to kill Mûsa (Moses), and let him call his Lord (to stop me from killing him)! I fear that he may change your religion, or that he may cause mischief to appear in the land!”

Mûsa (Moses) said: “Verily, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant who believes not in the Day of Reckoning!”

And a believing man of Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith said: “Would you kill a man because he says: My Lord is Allâh, and he has come to you with clear signs (proofs) from your Lord? And if he is a liar, upon him will be (the sin of) his lie; but if he is telling the truth, then some of that (calamity) wherewith he threatens you will befall on you.” Verily, Allâh guides not one who is a Musrif (a polytheist, or a murderer who shed blood without a right, or those who commit great sins, oppressor, transgressor), a liar!.”

Suratul Ghaafir: 23-28:

In Saheeh al-Bukhaaree one of the hadeeths Imaam Bukhaaree brings under the Chapter: What the Prophet (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) and the Companions confronted from the Polytheists:

Is the hadeeth of Urwa ibn Zubayr who said:

{ أَتَقْتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَنْ يَقُولَ رَبِّيَ اللَّهُ }

I asked Ibn ‘Amr al-‘As:

‘Tell me of the most severe things which the polytheists [of Makkah] did to the the Prophet (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)?’

So he said:

‘Once when the Prophet (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) was praying in the sanctuary of the Ka’bah; Uqbah ibn Mu’ayt approached him and put his cloth on his neck and he strangled the Prophet (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) with great vigour. Until when Abu Bakr approached, took hold of his shoulder and shoved him away from the Prophet (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam), and he [Abu Bakr] said: “Would you kill a man because he says: My Lord is Allâh, and he has come to you with clear signs (proofs) from your Lord?…”[Suratul Ghaafir: 28].

Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajar in Fath ul Baaree -after bringing many related narrations- mentioned:

‘And this story of Abu Bakr has a witness from the hadeeth narrated by al-Bazzaar from the narration of Muhammad ibn ‘Alee from his father [‘Alee ibn Abi Taalib] that he gave a sermon and said: ‘Who is the most brave of all?’

So they replied: ‘You.’

He said: ‘As for me, there is no one who challenged me one-on-one except that I submitted him, but Abu Bakr [is the bravest of all].

Indeed I had seen the Messenger (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) while the [polytheist] Quraysh took hold of him; this one hitting him, and this one closing up on him; while they are saying to him: ‘you make the lords to be one lord?’

By Allaah none of us moved except Abu Bakr: striking this one, and pushing away this one: while he is saying:

‘Woe to you, Would you kill a man because he says: My Lord is Allâh, and he has come to you with clear signs (proofs) from your Lord?

Then ‘Alee wept.

Then he said: ‘I ask you by Allaah is the believing man of Fir’aun’s family better or is Abu Bakr?’

And the congregation was quiet.

Thus ‘Alee said: ‘By Allaah, one hour of Abu Bakrs’ is better than him. That is a man who is hiding his ‘Eeman, while this one is announcing and making apparent his ‘Eeman.’

Al-Imaam Shafi’ee –may Allaah have mercy on him- said:

طلب العلم أفضل من صلاة النافلة ،

Seeking knowledge is better than the voluntary prayer.

And he also said:

ليس بعد الفرائض أفضل من طلب العلم ،

After the obligatory matters; there is nothing more excellent than knowledge.

And he also said:

من أراد الدنيا فعليه بالعلم ، ومن أراد الآخرة فعليه بالعلم ،

The one who desires the world; then upon him is knowledge, And the one who desires the here-after; then upon him is knowledge!

And he also said:

من لا يحب العلم فلا خير فيه فلا يكن بينك ، وبينه معرفة ، ولا صداقة ،

The one who does not love knowledge: there is no goodness in him. Thus let not there be any connection between you and him, nor any companionship.

I do not –and all Perfect Praise is for Allaah- call to the sect of the sufis, nor to any Faqeeh [jurist], or any philosopher, or any Imaam -from the Imaams whom I hold in esteem- like Ibnul Qayyim and Adh-Dhahabee and Ibn Katheer and other than them.

Rather I call to Allaah Alone; One with no partners, and I call to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam); of which he counseled -the predecessors and the later ones from among his Ummah- to follow.

And I hope that I will never repel the truth when it reaches me, rather I call Allaah to bear witness, and the Angels, and all the creatures; that when a word of truth comes to me; I will accept it welcomingly and unconditionally.

And I will throw against the wall all that which opposes the truth –from the statements of my Imaams- except the Messenger of Allaah (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam); because he does not utter except the truth….”

Benefits:

1. A clarification that Imaam Muhammad ibn AbdulWahhab (rahimahullaah) never came with any new sect or group; rather first and foremost he never came with a new creed.

2. An explicit statement showing the difference between glorifying the Imaams and restricting to call to them [and their opinions] only.

3. Our call is the call to Tawheed and the Pure Sunnah.

4.  Re-iterating the statement of the Imaams:  ‘When you find my opinion contradicting the Sunnah; then throw my opinion against the wall.’

5. The truth is not to be left; no matter who opposes it.

6. If this is the call of the Imaam Muhammad ibn AbdulWahhab (rahimahullaah); then it is foremost on those who are lower than him to not to call to partisanship nor blind following of their own opinions.

7. We only blind follow one Imaam:  the Messenger of Allaah (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam).

8. The truth is what confirms with the sacred Texts.

And Allaah knows best.

And surely some of the Salaf have said:

Loving Abu Bakr & ‘Umar is ‘Eeman, and disliking them is hypocrisy.

Source: Majmoo’ Fataawa of Shaykhul Islaam ibn Taymiyyah

7. Imrân ibn Husayn (radhiyaAllaahu ‘anhu) narrates that The Messenger of Allaah (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:

يَكُون فِي أُمَّتِي قَذْفٌ  وَمَسْخٌ  وَ خَسْفٌ ،

قَيلَ: وَمَتَى ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ إِذَا ظَهَرَتْ الْمَعَازِف وَ الْقِيَان وَشُرِبَتْ الْخُمُور

“In this Ummah there will be [people who will be] sunk into the earth, deformed, and upon whom stones will rain from the skies.”

It was said: ‘And when will that be?’

He replied:

“When singing girls and instruments of music will appear (become prevalent), and alcohol will be drunk.” [1]

And it has come in one route as mursal 2, and in another route as connected – and this is more authentic of the two- from Abul Abbaas al-Hamdaani from ‘Ammaara ibn Raashid, from al-Ghaazee ibn Rab’eea , raised to the Messenger of Allaah (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) :

ليمسخن قوم وهم على أريكتهم قردة وخنازير لشربهم الخمر وضربهم بالبرابط والقيان

“There will be a people who will be deformed -into monkeys and swine- while they are reclining on their couches. Because of their consuming of alcohol and their using of the lute [instruments] and singing girls.” [3]

And it is strengthened more by the corroborating narrations regarding the fitan [trials to appear at the end of times], and from these is the hadeeth:

“A group among this Nation will spend a night in drinking and eating, and entertainment and play; and by the time morning reaches them they will be turned into swine and monkeys, and they will be ceased by a rain of stones, and splitting of the earth to swallow them.  Thus the people will say : ‘Last night the clan of so-and-so was swallowed by the earth,’ [and they will also say]: ‘In the night the house of so-and-so individually was swallowed into the earth.’

And indeed stones from the skies will descend upon them -on a certain tribe and those around them- just as they descended on the people of Lut ; And a [violent]dry wind  which destroyed the people of ‘Aad will be sent to a tribe and those around them :

[All of this] because of their drinking of alcohol, and wearing of silk [by men], and entertaining female singers, and consuming of ribaa [usury], and cutting of the ties of kinship.”

[Jaafar one of the narrators said: ‘And he mentioned one other thing which I forgot.’] [4]

[Imaam Al-Albaanee continues to say] : ‘Yes, and at this point [this narration] becomes authentic without any doubt –due to these corroborating evidences.’

Upto where he said:

‘And there is another narration like this from Anas (radhiyaAllaahu anhu) who said: ‘the Messenger of Allaah (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:

إذَا اسْتَحَلَّتْ أُمَّتِي ستاً فَعَلَيْهِمْ الدَّمَارُ : إذَا ظَهَرَ التَّلَاعُنُ وَشَرِبُوا الْخُمُورَ وَلَبِسُوا الْحَرِيرَ وَاتَّخَذُوا الْقِيَانَ وَاكْتَفَى الرِّجَالُ بِالرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَاءُ بِالنِّسَاءِ

“When my nation make permissible six things, then for them is destruction :

‘When cursing each other [increases]becomes apparent between them, and drinking of intoxicants, and wearing of silk [by men], and employment of singers, and when the men resault to be sufficed by men, and the women by women [i.e. when they take on homosexuality].”

For surely I have heard our shaykh, al-Muhaddith Abu Abdurrahmaan al-Wadi’ee [rahimahullaah] more than once saying:

“By Allaah, we don’t fear for our Da’wah; except from ourselves.”

I [shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam] say:  By Allaah the shaykh has detected with a precise detection.

And indeed the Messenger (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) repetitively increased when opening his sermons by saying: ‘…And we seek refuge by Allaah from the evil of our souls and the evil of our deeds…’

Thus our souls –regardless of what good is in them- they are prone to evil.

So , By Allaah this is the era of which it is upon us to search for our [own] defects, shames, and sins: if we really are among those who are seeking to protect this great religion.

And the shaykh [Muqbil] rahimahullaah knows how many adversaries the D’awah has from inside and outside; but still [he is specifying that] their effects cannot be as worse as the effects of the corruption of those who are in charge of the Da’wah.

So let each one of us be concerned with what is in his soul, and let him weigh his statements and actions and his hidden and apparent; by the scale of the shari’ah.

And Allaah is the Helper.

It is reported from Sufyaan ibn Uyaynah that he used to say:

“Surely the Messenger (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) is ‘the greatest scale’, and thus [all] the matters are weighed upon it: on his etiquettes, and his life-history, and his guidance: so whatever conforms to it; then that is the truth, and whatever opposes it; then it is invalid.”

Purification of the soul and its cleanliness is conditioned by accounting it.

Thus it will never be cleansed, or purified, or rectified; except by taking it into account.

Al-Hasan [al-Basri] rahimahullaah said: ‘Surely the believer – you will not find him except that- he is in check of his soul: ‘What did you intend with that statement?’   ‘What did you intend with eating that?’  ‘What was you goal in entering such and such place, and leaving such and such place?’  ‘What did you intend with this?’  ‘What is for me with this?’  ‘By Allaah, I will never return to this.’   And the likes of these statements.

So the one who takes his soul to account: he looks into its shames [its deficiencies], and its destroyers.

Then, he is able to tread upon rectifying it.
