عن سفيان بن عيينة أنه كان يقول :

إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم هو الميزان الأكبر , فعليه تُعرض الأشياء : على خُلُقه , و سيرته و هديه: فما وافق فهو الحق , و ما خالفها فهو الباطل

It is reported from Sufyaan ibn Uyaynah that he used to say:

“Surely the Messenger (ȘallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) is ‘the greatest scale’, and thus [all] the matters are weighed upon it: on his etiquettes, and his life-history, and his guidance: so whatever conforms to it; then that is the truth, and whatever opposes it; then it is invalid.”
