قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ :

كَتَبوُا عَنْ أَبِي دَاوُدَ – الطَّيَالِسِيّ – أَرْبَعِينَ أَلْف حَدِيث وَ لَيْسَ مَعَهُ كِتَابُ

 

‘Umar ibn Shaybah said : 

“ Forty thousand ahadeeth were transcribed from Aboo Daawood at-Tayaalisee ; and he did not have a book [present with him]! ”
