Alhamdulillaah, and may peace and blessings of The Lord be upon Muhammad, his wives, his companions, and those who followed them in goodness.

Last year a book entitled ‘Jewel of Medina’ was released amidst much controversy. It is a book which has no value and no respect for our Prophet (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) and his close ones.

Sufficient for a comment on the book is the statement of Denise A. Spellberg, Assoc. Professor of History and Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Texas at Austin [replying to one who accused her of instigating the decision of not to publish that book (which was published anyway)]  she wrote:

‘…As a historian invited to “comment” on the book by its Random House editor at the author’s express request, I objected strenuously to the claim that “The Jewel of Medina” was “extensively researched,” as stated on the book jacket. As an expert on Aisha’s life, I felt it was my professional responsibility to counter this novel’s fallacious representation of a very real woman’s life. The author and the press brought me into a process, and I used my scholarly expertise to assess the novel. It was in that same professional capacity that I felt it my duty to warn the press of the novel’s potential to provoke anger among some Muslims.

There is a long history of anti-Islamic polemic that uses sex and violence to attack the Prophet and his faith. This novel follows in that oft-trodden path, one first pioneered in medieval Christian writings. The novel provides no new reading of Aisha’s life, but actually expands upon provocative themes regarding Muhammad’s wives first found in an earlier novel by Salman Rushdie, “The Satanic Verses,” which I teach. I do not espouse censorship of any kind, but I do value my right to critique those who abuse the past without regard for its richness or resonance in the present.

The combination of sex and violence sells novels. When combined with falsification of the Islamic past, it exploits Americans who know nothing about Aisha or her seventh-century world and counts on stirring up controversy to increase sales…’

This was an article on the Wall Street Journal, Aug 9.

When the release of the book was announced; actions of violence encountered it.

We are in no way affiliated, perpetrating, nor supporting that.  Violence is not the solution. [Don’t you see it is still in the markets upto this moment!!].

We say:

1. To describe that book as ‘Extensively researched’; is unacceptable and is misleading.

2. O, Muslims; yes we are enraged by such blasphemous content being spread in regards to the best of the people.

But we remind you:

“….You shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you and from those who ascribe partners to Allâh, but if you persevere patiently, and become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious) then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs, and that is from the great matters, [which you must hold on with all your efforts].”

 (Aal-Imraan: 186)

 So keep this in mind.

Then let’s ask ourselves: ‘We love our mother ‘Aisha (may Allaah be pleased with her), and we defend her honour; as her honour is the honour of the Prophet (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam)?

Yes, Indeed.

Yet how many narrations mentioning her excellences, her virtues, and her merits do you know?

Do you actually contemplate on the Word of Allaah?

“The Prophet is closer to the believers than their ownselves, and his wives are their (believers’) mothers (as regards respect and marriage).”  (Al-Ahzaab: 6)

So is this how we treat our Mother?

Thus, as a present to all those who love their religion, and those who love their noble Prophet (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam), and love whom he used to love:  we present to you this humble research,

Fadhlu Aishah; Ummul Mu’mineen, As-Siddeeqah bint Siddeeq :

The Excellence of ‘Aisha; The Mother of the Believers, The Truthful one  the daughter of the truthful one.

A book comprising of the excellences of this great woman, And her merits; as in the Sacred texts of the Qur’an and the Authentic Sunnah, And her virtues; as witnessed by the noble companions, And the affirmation of her lofty status; as through the narrations of the Imaams of Islaam.

Note: This is an ‘un-official’ announcement of the release of the book. And this book is not a refutation of that book.  Sufficient that the author of that dirty book –herself- described it as fiction.

Anyway what is important is: How do you repel those kinds of distortions, and shubuhaat [doubts and whims], and ‘fabricated fiction’ [if we can call it that]?

Answer: The only way –as explained by the Imaams of the Sunnah- is to acquire knowledge which counters, repels, and destroys the doubts of the doubters.

So for us; is to seek knowledge –from the Sacred texts of the Qura’n and the Sunnah- and by the will of Allaah, that will be our recipe of success.

Indeed The Prophet (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) said:

مَنْ يُرِدْ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ

“The One whom Allaah wishes good for;

He makes him knowledgeable in the religion.”
